Most of these runs are long enough that the drive is part of the day, so the vehicle matters as much as the destination. Atlantic City is about 125 miles down the New Jersey Turnpike and the Atlantic City Expressway. Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun sit in eastern Connecticut, reached on I-95 through Westchester and along the Connecticut shore. The Hamptons and the North Fork wineries are at the far end of Long Island on the Long Island Expressway, and the Meadowlands is a short hop through the Lincoln Tunnel for Jets, Giants and concert nights at MetLife Stadium.

Timing and traffic

Leave early on summer Fridays. The Long Island Expressway eastbound and the Turnpike southbound are at their slowest on Friday afternoons from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and the return trip on Sunday evening mirrors it. A 9 or 10 AM departure for a North Fork wine tour, or a mid-afternoon start for an Atlantic City evening, avoids the worst of it. The chauffeur holds at a pre-cleared curb while you are inside, and the clock runs on your booked window rather than on miles driven.
